Veľké Kostoľany (1927–1948 "Veľké Kostolany", until 1927 "Kostolany"; German Großkostolan , Hungarian Nagykosztolány ) is a municipality in western Slovakia . It is located in the Danube hill country on the Chtelnička river , about 16 km from Piešťany and 17 km from Trnava .
The first written mention was in 1209 as a Costulan .
Zákostoľany , which was incorporated in 1945, also belongs to the municipality .
Veľké Kostoľany is the location of a transmitter for MW and KW, which is now shut down, but should still be at least partially operational.
