The place was first mentioned in writing in 1252 as Kwlchud , when Béla IV donated the place to the Premonstratensian monastery in der Turz . In 1268 the village was already part of the Komorn Castle estate and in 1535 it was transferred to the Archabbey of Pannonhalma , which lasted until serfdom was abolished in 1848. In 1828 there were 41 houses and 285 inhabitants. Floods of 1876 and 1880 damaged large parts of Kulcsod; as a result, the Danube flood protection was expanded.

The place in Raab County belonged to the Kingdom of Hungary until 1919 and then came to Czechoslovakia or now Slovakia. 1938-45 he was again in Hungary due to the First Vienna Arbitration .

On June 17, 1965 there was a catastrophic dike breach ( Danube floods in 1965 ), which caused Kľúčovec and the eastern part of the large Schüttinsel to stand under water. The flood did not claim any human sacrifice, but half of the village was completely destroyed. Thanks to extensive aid from all over Czechoslovakia, most of the place was rebuilt and habitable by the end of the year.
