Vojka nad Dunajom (until 1927 “Vajka” in Slovak; Vajka in Hungarian - from 1940 to 1948 Vajkakeszölce ) is a municipality in Kraj Trnava in western Slovakia . It is located in the Danube lowlands on the Little Schüttinsel between the old arm of the Danube (border with Hungary ) and the Danube Canal (part of the Gabčíkovo hydropower plant ), 20 km from Dunajská Streda and 33 km from Bratislava .
The first written mention was in 1186 (or 1254/55) as Voyka . Until 1918 the place in Pressburg County belonged to the Kingdom of Hungary and then came to the newly formed Czechoslovakia . Through the First Vienna Arbitration Award , the community briefly returned to Hungary from 1938 to 1945, and has been part of today's Slovakia since 1993. From 1940 to 1988 the village of Kyselica belonged to the municipality, due to the merger in 1940 under Hungarian rule, the place was called Vajkakeszölce until 1948 .
There is a church of St. Michael from the 18th century in the village.
