Kráľovičove Kračany (until 1948 "Kráľovicove Korčany" in Slovak; Királyfiakarcsa in Hungarian ) is a municipality in southwestern Slovakia with 1091 inhabitants (as of December 31, 2019). It belongs to the Okres Dunajská Streda , part of the Trnavský kraj .

geography

The community is located on the Great Schüttinsel , part of the Slovak Danube lowlands . The municipality is flat with fertile soils and some peat bogs. The center of the village is at an altitude of 117  m nm and is five kilometers from Dunajská Streda .

Neighboring municipalities are Orechová Potôň and Veľké Blahovo in the north, Kostolné Kračany in the east, Jurová in the south, Lúč na Ostrove in the west and Vieska in the northwest.

Administratively, the municipality is divided into parts of the municipality Etreho Kračany, Jastrabie Kračany, Kľúčiarove Kračany, Kráľovičove Kračany and Lesné Kračany (Hungarian : Etrekarca , Solymoskarcsa , Kulcsárkarcsa , Királyfiakarcsa and Erdőhátkarcsa ); the place Damazérske Kračany (Hungarian Damazérkarcsa ) is no longer part of the municipality and part of Lesné Kračany.

history

The community was created in 1940 through the merger of the five previously independent villages and at that time bore the Hungarian name Királyfiakarcsa .

The area around the place, together with that of today's Kostolné Kračany municipality, was first mentioned in writing in 1215 as Corcha .

Until 1919, the places in Pressburg County belonged to the Kingdom of Hungary and then came to Czechoslovakia or now Slovakia. Due to the First Vienna Arbitration Award , they were again in Hungary from 1938-45.

According to the 2011 census, there were 1039 inhabitants in Kráľovičove Kračany, including 833 Magyars, 161 Slovaks, seven Czechs, two Poles and one German and Roma; one resident was of a different ethnicity. 33 residents gave no answer. 864 residents committed themselves to the Roman Catholic Church, 23 residents to the Reformed Church, five residents to the Evangelistic Church, three residents each to the Jehovah's Witnesses and three residents to the Jewish community, two residents each to the Evangelical Church AB and the Evangelical Methodist Church and one resident to the Old Catholic Church; 18 residents were of other denominations. 61 inhabitants had no denomination and the denomination of 57 inhabitants has not been determined.
