Alexander Alexeievitch Rehbinder , Russian Александр Алексеевич Ребиндер (born January 15, jul. / 27. January  1826 greg. , † August 18 . Jul / 31 August  1913 . Greg ) was a Baltic German officer last imperial Russian general of Infantry.

Life

origin

Alexander Alexeïevitch Rehbinder comes from an extensive German-Baltic family . His father Alexei Maximowitsch [ Алексей Максимович Ребиндер ] (1795–1869) was a Russian lieutenant general and businessman. His grandfather was Otto Friedrich von Rehbinder (* 1750) from Livonia , who adopted the name Maxim Karlowitsch Rehbinder ( Максим Карлович Ребиндер ) when he converted to the Orthodox faith .

Military career

Rehbinder joined the Preobrazhensk body guard regiment and rose to become general of the infantry. He became adjutant to Tsar Alexander II , later adjutant general to Grand Duke Vladimir Alexandrovich . Rehbinder took part in the Crimean War in 1853/56 and in the fighting in Poland in 1863/64 .

Rehbinder received the Alexander Nevsky Order , the Order of the White Eagle (1883), the Order of St. Vladimir 3rd and 2nd Class (1865/1878), the Order of St. Vladimir 3rd Class (1865), the Order of Saint Anna 1st Class (1870), the Saint Stanislaus Order 2nd and 1st Class (1858/1867) and the Prussian Red Eagle Order 2nd Class.

family

Rehbinder was married to Marija Nikolajewna Tolstaja (1838-1906), daughter of the general of the infantry Nikolai Matwejewitsch Tolstoy (1802-1880) and great-granddaughter of Prince Kutuzov , since 1862 . The couple's children were shot between 1918 and 1923, only their son Alexei (* 1865) emigrated and died in Germany in 1932.
