Robert N. Boyd

Robert Neilson Boyd (born July 18, 1914 , † July 16, 2000 in New York City ) was an American chemist ( organic chemistry ). From 1947 he was professor of chemistry at New York University .

He received his doctorate in 1939 from the University of California, Berkeley under Joel H. Hildebrand (The effect of temperature on the structure of mercury). He is best known as the author of an organic chemistry textbook with Robert T. Morrison that first appeared in 1959 and has been a standard textbook in the United States and beyond, selling over 2 million copies.
