The Imperial-Royal Order of the White Eagle ( Russian Императорский и Царский орден Белого Орла ) was an Imperial Russian order . It was introduced after the November uprising in 1831 and lasted until the February revolution in 1917 .

The Order of the White Eagle was founded in 1705 by the distressed King Augustus the Strong on the model of the Black Eagle Order and incorporated into the Russian order system by Emperor Nicholas I in 1831 ( Russian Орденъ Белого орла Orden Belogo orla ). This was the third highest imperial Russian order and came in rank after the Order of St. Andrew and the Alexander Nevsky Order .

The red enameled order cross with the white Polish eagle was retained, but placed on the spread out black enameled double-headed tsar's eagle with golden bills and claws, which was worked out according to the pattern of the Order of St. Andrew the First Called. The medal hung on a red enameled tsar's crown. Around 1855, a military class with swords was also created: in the case of the White Eagle, there were two crossed golden swords that hung under the tsar's crown and were surrounded by a blue enameled ribbon.

The eight-pointed order star was made of gold, with a round enamelled medallion in the middle, in the middle of the medallion a small red enamelled order cross, from the golden motto of the order Pro fide, rege et lege ("For Faith, King and Law") surrounded in the blue field. In the case of the military class, the medallion was underlaid with two crossed silver swords. As a special honor, both the order cross and the breast star with diamonds were awarded. The sash was dark blue and the medal was carried from the left shoulder to the right hip.

The order was made by the Saint Petersburg jeweler Keibel.
