Dunasziget (dt .: milk Village ) is a municipality in Hungary with 1,457 inhabitants, located in County Győr-Moson-Sopron .
geography
The municipality is located in the small area of Mosonmagyaróvár , which belongs to Győr-Moson-Sopron County. It is 13 km from the city of Mosonmagyaróvár and its junction with the M1 motorway. Dunansziget is located on the Little Schüttinsel , which extends to the Slovakian border 2 km away , which runs along the main arm of the Danube . The triangle with the Austrian border is also only 20 km away, the Slovak capital Bratislava is 40 km away and Vienna is 80 km away.
history
The districts of Dunasziget were first mentioned in the 18th century under the names Cikolasziget, Doborgazsziget and Sérfenyősziget. During a flood in 1954 , the population of Dunasziget had to be evacuated. Large parts of the community were destroyed by the floods and had to be rebuilt. In 1969 these three villages were united under the name Dunasziget.

There is a town partnership with the community of Forstinning in Upper Bavaria .
economy
The economy in Dunasziget is characterized by many small farms, but also by some tourist businesses such as guest houses, canoe rentals and campsites.
education
There is a kindergarten and a primary school in Dunasziget. The Timaffy-Endre primary school, founded in the 19th century, is currently attended by 66 students, who are divided into 8 classes. The school is financed by the Kolping Society .
