Forstinning is a municipality in the Upper Bavarian district of Ebersberg .

location
The municipality is located in the Munich region on the northern edge of the Ebersberger Forest in the Munich gravel plain bordering the Erding district . Forstinning is located around 26 km east of the state capital Munich , 18 km south of Erding , 24 km west of Haag , 12 km north of the district town of Ebersberg and 30 km from Munich Airport.

history
Until the 19th century
The main town of Forstinning was first mentioned in 804 as "Undeoingas" and later belonged to the Munich Rent Office and the Schwaben Regional Court (located in today's Markt Schwaben ) of the Electorate of Bavaria . Traces of settlement indicate that the municipality was inhabited earlier. There is a Keltenschanze in the district of Aitersteinering, which, however, is almost leveled by agricultural tillage. In the Sempt district, a small bronze ram figure from the Celtic period was found by a farmer , which is kept in the prehistoric state collection in Munich.
On July 14, 1894, Forstinning was hit by a tornado , which caused severe devastation.

coat of arms
A talking coat of arms was created for the community, symbolically representing the place-name designation word “forest” by means of two heraldic stylized spruce trees . This also symbolizes the location of the community in the Ebersberger Forest. The St. Silvester Brotherhood, which looks back on a long history and which, according to older documents on the local history, had its own property, can be regarded as a special feature of the local history. Since the cross is a symbolic attribute of St. New Year's Eve , this image was included in the coat of arms as a distinguishing mark.

Economy including agriculture and forestry
According to official statistics, there were 10 employees at the place of work in the field of agriculture and forestry, 227 in manufacturing and 183 in trade and transport. In other economic areas, 129 people were employed at the place of work subject to social security contributions. There were a total of 1,072 employees at the place of residence subject to social security contributions. There were none in the manufacturing sector and twelve in the construction sector. In addition, in 2003 there were 36 farms with an agricultural area of 972 ha.

Forstinning is connected to the federal motorway 94 via a junction . In addition, the federal highway 12 , which emerges from the A 94 in the municipality, runs through the municipality as well as the regionally important state road 2080 Rosenheim - Ebersberg - Markt Schwaben - Erding. Forstinning is best known nationwide for the dispute over the further construction of the A 94. The controversial section lies between Forstinning and Ampfing .
The nearest train station is in Markt Schwaben, 6 km away, with a connection to the regional traffic of the Südostbayernbahn and the S-Bahn , which runs every 20 minutes . Local public transport in Forstinning consists of bus connections from Regionalverkehr Oberbayern GmbH (RVO) with Munich-Max-Weber-Platz, Markt Schwaben, Hohenlinden and Ebersberg.

Secondary schools are located in Markt Schwaben (grammar school, secondary school, secondary school) and in Erding (vocational school, vocational high school, technical high school).
Sports
In the village of Forstinning there is a sports center with five soccer fields, one with artificial turf and two small fields. There is also a tennis facility with five fields. The largest sports club is the VfB Forstinning with the departments football, athletics, tennis, table tennis and gymnastics.

- Alois Hundhammer (born February 25, 1900 in Moos; † August 1, 1974 in Munich), Bavarian Minister of Culture, Minister of Agriculture and Deputy Prime Minister
- Thomas Hitzlsperger (born April 5, 1982 in Munich), former professional soccer player and German national soccer player, grew up in the Wagmühle district, attended elementary school in Forstinning and played for the local club VfB Forstinning.
- The composer Carl Maria von Weber stayed in Moos near Forstinning for some time .
- In the years 1871/72 the reform pedagogue Georg Kerschensteiner, who later became famous, worked as an assistant teacher at the Forstinningen School .
