Moosach is a municipality in the Upper Bavarian district of Ebersberg .

The municipality of Moosach is located in the Munich region in the foothills of the Alps in an Ice Age moraine landscape at an altitude of around 500 meters. On the partly wooded moraine hills that surround the place, you can find the Steinsee , a popular bathing lake. A little further away is the Kitzlsee , which is under nature protection .
The parish village of Moosach is located about 27 km southeast of Munich , 8 km west of Grafing , 16 km north of Feldkirchen-Westerham and 12 km from the district town of Ebersberg . The nearest S-Bahn stations are in Kirchseeon and Grafing (6 km each), Munich Airport is around 52 km and the A 99 ( Haar junction ) 13 km.

history
In 1990 Moosach was able to look back on its 1200th anniversary, documented in a deed of donation from the Diocese of Freising . The place name goes back to the stream ' Moosach ': Ache that flows through the moss. The starting point for the development of the place was Falkenberg Castle , which has now been removed .
Moosach belonged to the Munich Rent Office and to the Swabian Regional Court of the Electorate of Bavaria . In the course of the administrative reforms in Bavaria , today's municipality was created with the municipal edict of 1818 .
At Moosach stood the royal oak, which in 1900 had a chest height of nine meters and overturned in 1988.
Population development
Between 1988 and 2018, the community grew from 1,130 to 1,549 inhabitants or by 37.1%.
religion
Moosach is the seat of the Catholic Parish Association of Moosach, to which, in addition to Moosach, the parishes of Oberpframmern (St. Andreas) and Bruck (St. Peter and Paul) also belong.
The parish of Moosach is first mentioned in 1325. The first evidence of the parish church of St. Bartholomew is dated in 1525. The church was rebuilt in 1777 and expanded in 1951. From summer 2010 to Christmas 2013 the parish church was closed for renovation and restoration work.

The first mayor is Michael Eisenschmid. He has been in office as honorary mayor since May 1, 2020. In the runoff election on March 29, 2020, he received 59.0% of the vote.
Architectural monuments
The pilgrimage church " Our Lady in Altenburg " is mentioned in 1391 for the first time. The originally Gothic church was converted to Baroque style in 1711 and restored in 1975 and 1993/94. The St. Pankratius branch church in Berghofen is one of the oldest churches in the Ebersberg area. It is estimated that it was built between 1180 and 1200. Originally assigned to the parish of Bruck, it has belonged to the parish of Moosach since 1820.
traffic
From 1894 Moosach had a stop on the Grafing – Glonn local railway , but this was where passenger traffic was discontinued in 1970 due to falling passenger numbers and freight traffic in 1971 and the line closed. The Moosach station building that is still preserved is a listed building, next to it is a piece of track with a former passenger car.
