Steinsee (family and lido ) |
The 21-hectare Steinsee is located around 23 kilometers east of Munich in the southwestern area of the Upper Bavarian municipality of Moosach . It is about 11 meters deep and the second largest lake and the largest bathing lake in the Ebersberg district .
Origin and origin of the name
The Steinsee is a relic of the Würm Cold Age , a dead lake in the terminal moraine area of the Inntal Glacier . It takes its name from a Roman stone house, the remains of which were discovered near the lake.
ecology
The Steinsee is located in a forest area and is fed from pure spring water , which is why its water quality is impeccable. The shore region of the Steinsee is predominantly overgrown. Parts of the bank are covered with reeds or have remains of bog . The lake is one of the warmest lakes in Germany, as its water often warms up to around 23 degrees Celsius in early summer. In summer, the water temperature can rise to 26 degrees or more.
Use as a bathing lake
There has been a family and lido on the north shore of the lake since 1934 . It has sunbathing areas with large trees and a view of the lake, a children's playground and kiosk, parking spaces, sanitary facilities and a water watch station . A restaurant with a lake terrace is attached to the family pool. This makes the lake a popular destination. There is free access to the Steinsee on the shady southeastern shore, where there are other swimming opportunities.
Conservation measures
