Darnózseli (dt .: Dornach-Schöllern ) is a place with 1600 inhabitants in the center of the Little Schüttinsel (Szigetköz), which is the largest island in Hungary . It is enclosed by the Old Danube and the Moson Danube .

In Darnózseli there is a cemetery chapel that was built in 1787. An independent parish office was established there. The presbytery was reconstructed and can now be viewed on the cemetery grounds. The current church was built in 1930 in neoclassical style. The village is characterized by traditional Hungarian houses. Another attraction are some 100-year-old oaks ("Millennium Oaks"), which were planted on the occasion of the 1000th anniversary of the Hungarian conquest. There is also a monument to the Napoleonic battles in the Zseli Forest.

Darnózseli is surrounded by protected landscape areas and not far from the UNESCO World Heritage Site Fertő-Hanság . The international Danube Cycle Path leads directly through Darnózseli. The island is also ideal for all kinds of sporting activities such as hiking, inline skating, water sports, horse riding, golf, fishing, hunting, air sports and archery, as well as swimming in summer and ice skating in winter. On the few bad weather days (1950 hours of sunshine per year) you can indulge in wellness in one of the nearby thermal baths. Numerous palaces, castles, museums and picturesque villages are also waiting to be visited in the vicinity; Markets, exhibitions and many festivals round off the cultural program. Nature lovers will find a very diverse flora and fauna.

Due to the beautiful landscape and the low property prices, some Germans and Austrians have already settled in Darnózseli.
