occupation

Basic cast

A typical line-up consists of one singer and four musicians ( drums , bass guitar , guitar and keyboard ). The singer is of central importance, as she sings a large part of the tracks and often also takes on the moderation. Often individual musicians also take on the solo part of some tracks or they master several instruments .

Extended cast

Many show bands have a second singer, a (male) singer and other instrumentalists, e.g. B. Alto saxophone , violin or another guitar .

The show

There are two types of bands, classic show bands and bands with a stage show.

Classic show band

Classic show bands shine with musical perfection and professional stage clothing, which is often changed several times in the evening. The presentation of the soloistic qualities of the individual musicians, which is staged as a show, plays a special role.

Show bands with a stage show

In addition to music and sophisticated outfits, these show bands also incorporate thematic show blocks into their performance . The show blocks are often designed in such a way that the dance-loving audience can continue to dance. They can be designed as parodies or as serious cover versions in the sense of cover bands . Examples of such show blocks are:
- Rock 'n' Roll - Show in original costumes
- Udo Lindenberg with hat, wig and leather jacket
- Wolfgang Petry with wig, mustache, friendship bracelets
(The transition between serious cover and parody is sometimes fluid.)

Often pyrotechnics are used in show bands of this type.
