The 2020/21 snooker season is a series of snooker tournaments that are part of the Main Tour .
Because of the COVID-19 pandemic , the preseason had lasted longer than planned. In addition, all sporting events in China had been canceled by the end of 2020. This made the previous planning obsolete and the tournament calendar had to be recreated:
- The Championship League , which was held as a preparatory tournament after the end of the season when the old season was resumed, is the opening tournament of the new season.
- Two tournaments, the European Masters and the World Grand Prix, which were only planned for 2021, have been brought forward to 2020. This also means that the tournaments mentioned take place twice in a calendar year.
- Seven more tournaments were confirmed: the three Triple Crown tournaments, three of the four Home Nations tournaments and the Champion of Champions .
- The first five tournaments are to take place in Milton Keynes , England , including the European Masters originally planned for Austria and the Northern Ireland Open .
In addition to the China tournaments, the Paul Hunter Classic and the 6-Red World Championship for 2020 have also been canceled. The time between January 17 and April 17, 2021 has been left open.

Players of the Main Tour 2020/21
In addition to the 64 best-placed players in the world rankings and 35 players who were eligible to start for two years in 2019, the following 29 players will get a starting place for the 2020/21 and 2021/22 seasons:
Qualification via the one-year ranking Qualification via the World Snooker Challenge Tour International championships:
Qualification via the CBSA China Tour |
Qualification via the Q School ( tournament 1 , tournament 2 , tournament 3 ) World Championship: Finalists Invitational Tour Card |
Remarks:
Due to the corona pandemic , continental championships and a Q School Asia planned for the first time had been canceled. Therefore the tour qualification had to be reorganized at short notice. Among other things, it was determined:
- At the international tournaments, not only the winners of the two WSF tournaments received a tour card, but all four finalists.
- The cut-off date for the top 64 placement was before the World Cup instead of the usual end of the 2019/20 season , because the Q School was held parallel to the World Cup finals. Since players could not take part in both tournaments at the same time, reaching the World Cup finals was enough for qualification even without a top 64 placement.
