Zhao Jianbo ( Chinese  赵建波 , Pinyin Zhào Jiàn Bō ; born August 27, 2003 in Dazhou , Sichuan Province ) is a Chinese snooker player .

Career

As a 13-year-old, Zhao Jianbo was allowed to take part in the U18 World Cup in his own country and at least reached the main round. The following year he made it to the quarter-finals and at the U21 World Cup he was only stopped in the semi-finals by eventual winner Wu Yize with a score of 5: 4. The Asian Cup in the U21 age group at the end of April 2019 was then his first major tournament abroad. In India, at the age of 15, he won his first international youth title with a 6-3 win over former U18 world champion Ka Wai Cheung from Hong Kong.

In the following season he got a wildcard in all three tournaments of the professional tour . Only at the China Championship did he get into the main tournament without a fight because of a cancellation, otherwise he lost all games against the professional players. At the Haining Open , a Chinese Pro-Am tournament, he managed a 4-3 win over Craig Steadman . He also continued to play successful amateur tournaments. At the U21 World Cup , he met his compatriot Pang Junxu in the final and won his second international youth title 6-1. He and Pang were also the two best players on the CBSA China Tour who were not yet Main Tour professionals. As a result, they themselves qualified for the professional tour for the following two seasons.
