Gao Yang ( Chinese  高 阳 , Pinyin Gāo Yáng ; born September 5, 2004 ) is a Chinese snooker player from Anhui who qualified for the professional seasons 2020/21 and 2021/22 by winning the WSF Junior Open 2020 .

Career

Gao took part in the WSF Championship in 2018 , where he reached the first main round and had to admit defeat to Steve Mifsud in this , as well as in the U21 Asian Snooker Championship in 2019 , in which he survived the group stage without a single defeat, but in Quarterfinals against Narongdat Takantong from Thailand. In the same year he moved into the final of the U21 amateur world championship , but lost to his compatriot Jiang Jun . A short time later he left both the Under-21 Amateur World Cup and in the Amateur World Championship in the six-red snooker out in the second round. In addition, he was able to take part in the World Open through a wildcard , where he lost his opening match against Lu Ning in qualification , but nevertheless played his highest break on a professional level with a break of 61.

In 2020 he took part in the WSF Junior Open , survived the group stage as second in his group and later moved into the final, which he won with a 5-2 win over Sean Maddocks . Previously, Gao had defeated, among others, the Scot Dean Young and his compatriot Wu Yize . As a result, the then only 15-year-old Chinese qualified for the professional seasons 2020/21 and 2021/22 .
