Jamie Wilson (born November 11, 2003 ) is an English snooker player from Havant . In 2020, at the age of 16, he qualified as a professional for the Snooker Main Tour .

Career

Jamie Wilson, who lives in Havant in the south of England , showed himself to be a talented snooker player at an early age, he received training from World Snooker Coach Tim Dunkley in neighboring Portsmouth and scored his first 50s break at the age of 10. In the southern region he was one of the best players of his year and was once in the English U-14 final. On the national Cuestars Gold Tour, he won several victories in different age groups. In 2018 he was the captain of England's second U-16 team at the Home Internationals, the championship of the British Isles. The team won the title with him as the best player of the tournament. The following year, at the age of 15, he qualified for the English U-21 Premier Tour and the Top 16 tournament in the U-21 Championship.

At the beginning of 2020, Wilson competed at the international WSF Junior Open and was at least among the last 32. It was also his first qualifying tournament for the Snooker Main Tour . In August he first attended the Q School . While he was eliminated early in the first two tournaments, he managed a surprise win in the third tournament against still professional Michael Georgiou 3-2. Then he also defeated the ex-professionals Dave Finbow and Fang Xiongman 4: 3 each. With the same result, he finally defeated Haydon Pinhey in the play-off and won the tour ticket for the following two professional seasons as the youngest player in the Q School at the age of 16.
