history
Parts of the city center of Havant date back to Roman times . "Havenhunte" was first mentioned in a document in 1086 in the Domesday Book . The Church of St. Faith has existed since at least 1150. In 1760 Havant burned down almost completely; only the church and a group of houses known as the "Old House at Home" remained.
Until after the Second World War, Havant was a rather tranquil little town. But then rapid growth set in and the core city grew together with the neighboring villages of Langstone, Brockhampton, Bedhampton, Leigh Park, Denvilles and Warblington.
