The IBSF World Grand Prix 2006 was a snooker tournament that took place from February 22nd to March 3rd, 2006 at Pontins in the Welsh seaside resort of Prestatyn in Denbighshire . It was held to replace the IBSF World Snooker Championship, which was canceled in 2005 due to the Kashmir earthquake .

The 14-year-old Welshman Michael White defeated the Scots Mark Boyle 10: 5 in the final . Since White did not get the starting place due to age, Boyle qualified for the Main Tour 2006/07 .

mode

The 80 participating players were divided into eight groups in which they competed against each other in round robin mode . The four best placed in each group qualified for the final round, which was played in the knockout system .
