The 1996 IBSF U21 World Snooker Championship was the tenth edition of the Junior World Snooker Championship . It took place from August 3rd to 17th, 1996 at the Isca Club in Johannesburg and was organized by the International Billiards & Snooker Federation .

Chan Kwok Ming from Hong Kong won the world championship with an 11: 6 victory in the final against Risko Vayrynen from Finland . Chan was the first Asian U21 snooker world champion.

mode

The 48 participating players were divided into eight groups in which they competed against each other in round robin mode . The top two in each group qualified for the final round, which was played out in the knockout system .
