The IBSF Under-21 World Snooker Championship 1987 was the first edition of the International Billiards and Snooker Federation hosted Junior World Championship Snooker . It took place at the White Rock Theater in Hastings in south east England .
The Englishman Jonathan Birch became world champion with a 4-1 win in the final against his compatriot Stefan Mazrocis .
Only two non- UK players participated in the final round of the tournament ; the Irish Ken Doherty , who reached the round of 16, and the New Zealander Roy Young , who was eliminated in the round of 32.
