Mike Dechaine (born May 30, 1987 in Waterville , Maine ) is an American pool player .

Career

Mike Dechaine began at the age of 11 years with billiards . In 2004 he was ninth in a tournament on the Joss Northeast Tour . In 2005 he reached a seventh place and was thirteenth in the fifth Turning Stone Casino Classic . In March 2006 he came in 17th place at the Gabriels Open, which was held as part of the Super Billiards Expo. In September 2006 he won a tournament in the New England 9-Ball Series for the first time , and two months later he was fourth on the Joss Northeast Tour. In 2007 he achieved his first tournament victory on the Joss Northeast Tour and with 49th place his best result at the US Open in 9-ball .

In January 2008, Dechaine finished fourth in the 9-ball competition at the Derby City Classics . At the Super Billiards Expo 2008 he came in 13th place. In August 2008 he took part in the 14/1 endless world championship for the first time and reached the round of 16, in which he was defeated by his compatriot John Schmidt with 144: 200. Two months later, he finished 25th at the US Open. He also won two tournaments in the New England 9-Ball Series and a tournament on the Joss Northeast Tour in 2008.

In June 2009 Dechaine won the World Summit of Pool against Thorsten Hohmann in the final . In September 2009 he finished third in the World Classic 10-Ball Event. At the US Open 2009 he was thirteenth and also third at the US 10-Ball Invitational. In 2009, he won two tournaments at the New England 9-Ball Series. At the Derby City Classic 2010 Dechaine finished seventh in 9-ball. In May 2010, he finished ninth at the US Open in 10-ball. A month later he won a tournament on the Joss Northeast Tour, followed by his first tournament victory on the Predator Pro-Am Tour at the Empire State Championship in September. He took third place at the 16th Turning Stone Casino Classic.

In March 2011 Dechaine finished fourth in the Masters 10-Ball Championship. A month later, he won the Ultimate 10-Ball Championship . At the US Open in 10-Ball, he reached seventh place. In June 2011 he won his second Predator Pro Am Tour tournament with the George Sansouci Memorial. In December 2011, he finished fifth in the Turning Stone Casino Classic XVIII. He won two tournaments on the Joss Northeast Tour in 2011.

At the Derby City Classic 2012, Dechaine finished third in 9-ball. In May 2012, he finished fourth in the 10-ball at the US Open. At the World 14.1 Tournament 2012 he came in 17th place. He also won four tournaments on the Joss Northeast Tour in 2012, including the 19th Turning Stone Casino Classic. In January 2013 he was again third in 9-ball at the Derby City Classic. In the summer of 2013 he reached seventh place at the Ultimate 10-Ball Championship and at the US Open 10-Ball. At the US Open 9-Ball 2013 he was ninth. In 2013 he won three Joss Northeast Tour tournaments.

At the Derby City Classic 2014 , Dechaine finished sixth in 9-ball. In July 2014 he won a tournament of the American Rotation Championship Series in the final against the Venezuelan Jerry Calderon . A month later he reached the quarterfinals of the World 14.1 Tournament and was defeated there by the eventual winner Darren Appleton with 172: 200. In October 2014 he won another tournament in the American Rotation Championship Series and finished fourth at the US Open in 9-ball . In 2014, he also won five tournaments on the Joss Northeast Tour and two tournaments on the Predator Pro-Am Tour.

A few days after winning the American Rotation Championship Series V Finals , Dechaine reached the final of the one-pocket competition at the Derby City Classic 2015 and lost it to Alex Pagulayan . In July 2015, he made it into the final of the 8-Ball US Open, but lost to Dennis Orcollo . He lost the final of the Turning Stone Casino Classic XXIV with 10:13 against Jayson Shaw . In September 2015, Dechaine took part in the 9-ball world championship for the first time. After victories against the former world champion Daryl Peach as well as against Cheng Yu-hsuan and Denis Grabe , he lost in the round of 16 with 9:11 against the Taiwanese Ko Ping-chung . At the US Open 2015 he was thirteenth. In 2015 he also won three tournaments on the Joss Northeast Tour and one tournament on the Predator Pro-Am Tour.

In April 2016, Dechaine finished fifth in the SBE Players Championship. That summer he finished fifth at the US Open 8-Ball Championship and the 26th Turning Stone Classic . In October 2016, he again finished 13th in 9-Ball at the US Open . At the 2016 Kuwait Open , he was eliminated in the round of 32.

At the World Cup of Pool Dechaine took part so far twice. In 2011 he was eliminated in the first round with Corey Deuel, in 2015 he and Shane van Boening lost to the Qatari Waleed Majid and Bashar Hussain in the first round .

Dechaine has been part of the American team at the Mosconi Cup four times ( 2011 , 2012 , 2015 and 2016 ), with which he was defeated by the European team.
