Cheng Yu-hsuan (* 1987 or 1988 ) is a Taiwanese pool player .

Career

In September 2013, Cheng Yu-hsuan first took part in a world championship. At the 9-Ball World Cup he reached the final round, but was defeated by the Filipino Dennis Orcollo 10:11 in the round of 64 . At the All Japan Open of the same year he reached the sixteenth finals, which he lost to his compatriot Chang Jung-Lin . At the 9-Ball World Cup in 2014 , he was eliminated in the round of 64 against Chang Yu-Lung . In July, Cheng finished seventh at the Hard Times 10-Ball Open and thirteenth at the CSI Invitational Championship in 8-ball and 10-ball . At the All Japan Open 2014 he reached the sixteenth finals again and was defeated there by the Philippine Jeffrey Ignacio with 10:11. In February 2015, Cheng reached the round of 16 of the 10 Ball World Cup , which he lost to Warren Kiamco . After he was eliminated in the round of 64 at the 2015 9-Ball World Cup , he made it to the final at the 2015 US Open after victories against Francisco Sánchez , Justin Bergman , Ruslan Tschinachow and Hsu Kai-lun , in which he prevailed 13: 6 against Karl Boyes and became the first Taiwanese to win the US Open.

In January 2016, he finished fifth at the 25th Turning Stone Casino Classic . Two months later he reached the second round of the Chinese 8-Ball World Championship . In August 2016 he made it to the semi-finals of the 9-Ball World Championship for the first time , but lost to Shane van Boening 9:11 . After the World Cup, he took first place in the world rankings for the first time. At the China Open 2016 he reached the final and was defeated there by the Chinese Wu Jiaqing 4:11.
