Francisco Sánchez Ruíz (born December 29, 1991 ) is a Spanish pool player . He became European champion in the 9-ball discipline in 2016 .

Career

After Francisco Sánchez became Spanish Junior Champion in 2007, he won the Spanish Men's 9-Ball Championship in 2008 . In the same he was third in 8-Ball at the Junior European Championships . In July 2008, Sanchez came 17th at the Lugo Open. 2009 Sanchez Spanish 8-Ball champion and at the European Junior Championships third in 8-Ball and Vice European Champion in 9-Ball Junior. At the Lugo Open 2009, Sanchez finished fifth.

In February 2010, Sánchez reached the finals of a Euro Tour tournament for the first time at the French Open . In the last sixteen he was eliminated by Shane van Boening . At the EM 2010 , Sánchez reached the quarter-finals in 10-Ball . In the 8-ball semifinals he was eliminated from the later European champion Konstantin Stepanow and thus won the bronze medal. At the German Open 2010 , Sánchez reached the quarter-finals, but lost them 7: 8 to Raj Hundal . In November 2010 he became Junior World Champion with an 11: 6 win in the final against Jesse Engel .

At the EM 2011 , Sánchez reached the semi-finals in 8-Ball, which he lost 6: 9 to Mario He . In May 2011 he made it into the final round of a men's world championship for the first time at the 10-ball world championship. In the round of the last 64 he was defeated by the Englishman Karl Boyes 3: 9. At the 9-Ball World Cup 2011, however, he was eliminated in the preliminary round. In April 2013, Sánchez won the bronze medal in the 10-ball at the European Championships after he was eliminated by the eventual European Champion Mateusz Śniegocki . In August 2016 he made it to the finals of the 9-ball world championship for the first time. Sánchez has taken part in the World Cup of Pool twice so far . In 2010 he reached the round of 16 with David Alcaide , where they were defeated 4-8 by the Filipinos Ronato Alcano and Dennis Orcollo . In 2015 , he and Francisco Díaz-Pizarro formed the Spanish team that was eliminated in the first round against the Czech Republic ( Roman Hybler and Michal Gavenčiak ).

In 2010 , Sánchez was part of the Spanish team that was eliminated in the preliminary round of the Team World Cup . In 2012 he became European champion with the Spanish national team , and in 2014 vice-European champion.
