mode

Initially, all categories were played in the double knockout system . This means that you can lose a game (but then you have to survive the longer way through the losers round) without being eliminated from the tournament immediately. A second defeat led to the end of the tournament in any case. This game mode was used until only a certain number of players remained in the tournament (32 for men; 16 for women; 8 for wheelchair users; 8 for men’s teams and 4 for women’s teams). From then on it went in the knockout system (meaning: every defeat leads to immediate elimination) until the final. A game for 3rd place was not played.
