The 2005 European Pool Billiards Championship was a pool tournament hosted by the European pool association EPBF in Veldhoven . After 1983 , the EM took place in the Netherlands for the second time .
The disciplines 8-ball , 9-ball and 14/1 were played out endlessly for men, women and wheelchair users, although there was no 14/1 endless competition for wheelchair users. In addition, the men's and women's European team champions were determined.
The German Thorsten Hohmann won the final in 14/1 against Nicolas Ottermann . The Dutchman Alex Lely , who won bronze endlessly in 14/1, became European champion in 8-ball and 9-ball. In the 8-ball final he defeated Tomasz Kapłan from Poland , in the 9-ball he defeated last year's finalist , the German Ralf Souquet . Thorsten Hohmann also won bronze in the 9-ball.
The Austrian Jasmin Ouschan became European champion in 9-ball and 14/1 endlessly, winning in the final against the Danish Charlotte Sorensen and the German Diana Stateczny . The Swiss Christine Feldmann became 8-ball European champion in the final against the Belgian Wendy Jans . Daniela Benz won two bronze medals.
Among the wheelchair users, as in 2002 , the Finn Jouni Tahti and the Swede Henrik Larsson met in both finals . As in 2002, Tahti won in 8-ball, Larsson was 9-ball European champion. Roy Kimberley , Fred Dinsmore , Matej Brajkovic and Kurt Deklerck won the bronze medals.
The German men's team ( Thomas Engert , Oliver Ortmann , Ralf Souquet, Thorsten Hohmann and Nicolas Ottermann) became European champions for the 15th time in the final against the Czech Republic. Finland and the defending champions and hosts, the Netherlands, took third place. In the women's championship, defending champion Germany ( Sandra Ortner , Daniela Benz, Diana Stateczny and Susanne Wessel ) won the European championship for the eighth time in the final against the Netherlands. Italy and Great Britain won bronze.
