The 1999 European pool championship was a pool tournament that took place in the Hotel Poznań in Poznan and was organized by the European pool association EPBF . The EM took place in Poland for the first time .
The disciplines 8-ball , 9-ball and 14/1 were played out endlessly for women, men and, for the first time, also for wheelchair users, who did not, however, play a 14/1 endless competition. In addition, the men's and women's European team champions were determined.
The Swede Tom Storm became European champion in 14/1 with a final victory against Oliver Ortmann . In 9-Ball, however, Ortmann managed to defend his title from the previous year in the final against the Swiss Samuel Clemann . 8-ball European champion was defending champion Ralf Souquet in the final against Peter Nielsen . The Germans Thomas Engert and Bernd Jahnke , the Austrian Andreas Rindler , the Luxembourgish Steve Leisen , as well as Rico Diks and Fabrizio Baldassari each won a bronze medal.
Franziska Stark from Germany won the final in the women's 14/1 against Ulrika Andersson from Sweden . Stark had previously become vice European champion in this discipline three times in a row. In the 8-ball final, Stark defeated the Swede Louise Furberg . The German Daniela Husseneder became 9-ball European champion by beating Silke Falkus . The German Birgit Reimann also won bronze twice.
The first 8-ball European wheelchair champion was the Swede Henrik Larsson . In the final he defeated the Austrian Emil Schranz . The Englishman Daniel Luton and the German Tankred Volkmer won bronze. Volkmer also reached the 9-ball final, in which he lost to the Belgian Kurt Deklerck . Schranz and Larsson won bronze in 9-ball.
The German men's team (Oliver Ortmann, Thomas Engert, Ralf Souquet, Bernd Jahnke, Thorsten Hohmann) became European champions for the twelfth time by beating the Netherlands in the final. Finland and defending champions Denmark took third place. In the women’s category, Germany (Franziska Stark, Daniela Husseneder, Janine Drescher , Birgit Reimann) lost to eventual European champions Sweden and thus came in third like last year. Defending champion Norway lost to Sweden in the final. The Netherlands were also eliminated in the semi-finals.
