Rico Diks (born October 22, 1975 ) is a Dutch pool player . He became European champion in 2001 .

Career

In 1991 Rico Diks won his only medal at the European Youth Championships with bronze in 14/1 endlessly the student . He finished third at the Netherlands Open in 1994 and thus won his first Euro Tour medal. At the European Championships in 1996 Diks won bronze endlessly in 14/1, in 1998 he reached the final in 8-ball , but lost to Ralf Souquet . In the same he also reached the final of the Germany Open and was defeated there by Francisco Bustamante from the Philippines . At the European Championships in 1999 he won bronze in the 8-ball. In September 2000 Diks reached the 13th place at the US Open . At the 2001 European Championship , Diks was 9-ball European champion in the final against Andreas Roschkowsky and also won bronze in the 14/1 endlessly. At the England Open Diks finished second in the final against Fabio Petroni . In July of the same year he came in at the 9-ball World Cup in 65th place, in November he was fifth in the World Pool League . At the 9-Ball World Cup in 2002 Diks reached 17th place, at the World Pool Masters he reached the quarter-finals, in which he was eliminated from the eventual tournament winner Ralf Souquet. In addition, Diks was ninth in two IBC Tour tournaments in 2002. In 2003 Diks was third at the Belgium Open and fifth at the European Championships in 14/1 endless. At the 9-Ball World Cup , Diks finished 33rd in 2003, at the World Pool Masters he was eliminated in the round of 16. In 2004 Diks was third in 14/1 endless at the European Championships and fifth in 9-ball, at the 9-ball World Cup he finished 17th and at the Spanish Open he won bronze. At the 9-Ball World Cup in 2005 Diks came in 81st place, in 2006 he reached ninth and 54th place in the International Pool Tour. In July 2008 Diks finished third at the Lugo Open. At the Sarajevo Open 2010 he was ninth.

In 2007 , Diks and Alex Lely formed the second Dutch team to be eliminated in the second round of the World Cup of Pool .

Rico Diks currently lives in London .
