Matjaž Erčulj (born February 28, 1977 ) is a Slovenian pool player .

Career

In July 2002 Matjaž Erčulj reached the 33rd place at the 9-ball world championship and at the IBC Tour Holland Open. In 2005 he was third in 8-ball at the European Championships .

At the Italy Open and the Swiss Open 2007 Erčulj reached the second round. In November of the same year he was defeated by the German Harald Stolka in the round of 64 at the 9-ball World Cup , and at the Costa del Sol Open in December he was eliminated in the round of sixteen. Having initially at the 2008 Open French and Austrian Open was in each case come to 17th place, Erculj was in the EM Seventeenth in 9-Ball , finishing in 49th place in the 8-ball. In October 2008 he was eliminated without a win in the preliminary round of the 10-ball world championship .

In March 2009 Erčulj reached the round of 16 of the Italy Open , but there was defeated by the Portuguese Pedro Fonseca . A few weeks later he did not get past 49th place in the 8-ball at the European Championship . At the 10-Ball World Cup he was eliminated again without a win in November.

At the EM 2010 Erčulj reached in 14/1 endless and in 10-ball the sixteenth finals, but was eliminated against Nikos Ekonomopoulos and Nick van den Berg . In 2011 he made it into the round of 32 in 8-ball and 9-ball. However, there were defeats against Nick van den Berg and Stephan Cohen . At the EM 2013 he reached the sixteenth finals in 8-ball, but lost to the Portuguese Rui Franco . In 9-ball and 10-ball Erčulj came in 33rd place.

Erčulj has been Slovenian champion 15 times so far.

In 2010 , Erčulj and Matej Sulek formed the Slovenian team at the World Cup of Pool . However, they were eliminated in the first round against the Japanese Naoyuki Ōi and Tōru Kuribayashi .
