NGC 2607 is a spiral galaxy with an active nucleus of the Hubble-type Sc in the constellation Cancer on the ecliptic . It is estimated to be 155 million light years from the Milky Way and about 40,000 light years in diameter .
The object was discovered by John Herschel on December 24, 1827 .
