NGC 2628 is a spiral galaxy with an active nucleus of the Hubble type E1? in the constellation Cancer on the ecliptic . It is estimated to be 159 million light years from the Milky Way and about 50,000 light years in diameter.
The object was discovered by Wilhelm Herschel on November 16, 1784 .
