NGC 2646 is a lenticular galaxy of the Hubble type SB0 in the constellation Giraffe in the northern sky . It is an estimated 170 million light years away from the Milky Way and about 65,000 light years in diameter. 
Together with NGC 2614 , NGC 2629 , IC 520 it forms the IC 520 group .
The object was discovered on July 27, 1883 by Ernst Wilhelm Leberecht Tempel .
