IC 520 is a barred spiral galaxy with an active galactic nucleus from Hubble type SBab in the constellation Giraffe at the northern sky . It is estimated to be 161 million light years from the Milky Way and about 70,000 light years across.
Together with NGC 2614 , NGC 2629 , NGC 2646 it forms the IC 520 group .
The object was discovered by Lewis Swift on August 29, 1888 .
