IC 503 is a bar-spiral galaxy with an active nucleus of the Hubble type SBa in the constellation Hydra south of the ecliptic . It is estimated to be 178 million light years away from the Milky Way and has a diameter of around 60,000 ly.
In the same area of the sky is the galaxy IC 2327 .
The property was discovered by Carl Frederick Pechüle in 1888 .
