IC 485 is a spiral galaxy of the Hubble type Sa with an active galaxy core in the constellation Gemini on the ecliptic . It is an estimated 370 million light years from the Milky Way and about 135,000 light years in diameter. Presumably it forms a gravitationally bound galaxy pair together with PGC 22435 .

The galaxies NGC 2490 , NGC 2492 , IC 484 , IC 486 are located in the same area of ​​the sky .

The object was discovered on March 6, 1891 by Rudolf Ferdinand Spitaler .
