IC 481 is a spiral galaxy of Hubble type Sbc in the constellation Gemini on the ecliptic . It is estimated to be 211 million light years away from the Milky Way and has a diameter of around 65,000 ly.
In the same area of the sky are the galaxies NGC 2480 , NGC 2481 , NGC 2498 , IC 2218 .
The object was discovered by Stéphane Javelle on March 2, 1892 .
