IC 486 is a bar-spiral galaxy of the Hubble type SBa with an active galaxy core in the constellation Gemini on the ecliptic . It is estimated to be 357 million light years from the Milky Way and about 95,000 light years in diameter.

The object was discovered on March 6, 1891 by Rudolf Ferdinand Spitaler .
