IC 512 is a spiral galaxy of Hubble type Sc in the constellation Cepheus the northern sky . It is an estimated 79 million light years from the Milky Way and has a diameter of about 40,000 ly. Together with u. a. NGC 2268 , NGC 2276 , NGC 2300 , IC 455 , IC 469 and IC 499 make up the NGC 2276 group .
The object was discovered by William Frederick Denning on August 23, 1890 .
