NGC 2276 = Arp 25 is a bar-spiral galaxy of the Hubble type SBc in the constellation Cepheus in the northern sky . It is around 115 million light years away from the Milky Way and has a diameter of around 75,000 light years . The chaotically asymmetrical structure of the spiral arms and the extensive star formation areas seem to indicate an interaction with the nearby NGC 2300 .

Halton Arp organized his catalog of unusual galaxies into groups according to purely morphological criteria. This galaxy belongs to the class spiral galaxies with a pronounced arm (Arp catalog) .

Together with NGC 2268 , NGC 2300 , IC 455 , IC 469 , IC 499 and IC 512 u. a. it forms the NGC 2276 group .

The supernovae SN 1962Q , SN 1968V (Type-II), SN 1968W , SN 1993X (Type-II), SN 2005dl (Type-II) and SN 2016gfy (Type-II) were observed here.

The object was discovered on June 26, 1876 by the German astronomer Friedrich August Theodor Winnecke .
