NGC 3664 = Arp 5 is a barred spiral galaxy of the Hubble type SBm in the constellation Leo on the ecliptic . It is about 57 million light years away from the Milky Way and about 40,000 light years in diameter . Presumably, the galaxy is gravitationally to PGC 35042 ( NGC 3664A / KPG 283a ) bound and is considered a member of the NGC 3640 group (LGG 233).

Halton Arp organized his catalog of unusual galaxies into groups according to purely morphological criteria. This galaxy belongs to the class spiral galaxies with low surface brightness (Arp catalog) .

In the same area of the sky are u. a. the galaxies NGC 3640, NGC 3641 , NGC 3643 , NGC 3647 .

The object was discovered on March 16, 1879 by the German astronomer Ernst Wilhelm Leberecht Tempel .
