NGC 3681 is a bar-spiral galaxy with an active nucleus of the Hubble-type SBbc in the constellation Leo on the ecliptic . It is estimated to be 52 million light years away from the Milky Way and has a diameter of 45,000 ly.
In the same area of the sky there are u. a. the galaxies NGC 3655 , NGC 3684 , NGC 3686 , NGC 3691 .
The object was discovered by Wilhelm Herschel on April 17, 1784 .
