NGC 3655 is an active spiral galaxy with extended star formation from the Hubble type Sc in Leo on the ecliptic . It is an estimated 63 million light years away from the Milky Way and about 30,000 light years in diameter .
The galaxy NGC 3681 is located in the same area of the sky .
The Type Ib supernova SN 2002ji was observed here.
The object was discovered by Wilhelm Herschel on December 30, 1783 .
