NGC 2252 is a galactic open star cluster of the Trumpler-type IV2p in the constellation Monoceros north of the celestial equator . It has a diameter of 20 arc minutes and an apparent magnitude of 7.7 mag.
The object was discovered on January 27, 1786 by William Herschel .
