NGC 2235 is an elliptical galaxy from the Hubble type E2 in the constellation Dorado the southern sky . It is estimated to be 363 million light years away from the Milky Way and has a diameter of about 85,000 ly.
In the same area of the sky are the galaxies NGC 2228 , NGC 2229 , NGC 2230 , NGC 2233 , among others .
The object was discovered by John Herschel on November 30, 1834 .
