NGC 2232 is an open cluster of Trumpler type IV3p in the constellation Unicorn south of the celestial equator . It has a diameter of 45 minutes of arc and an apparent magnitude of 4.2 mag.
The object was discovered on October 16, 1784 by William Herschel .
