NGC 2298 is a globular cluster in the constellation Puppis and has an angular extent of 6 ′, 8 and an apparent magnitude of 9.3 mag. The core radius is 16 ″, 3, the surface brightness 18.7 mag / arcsec 2 .

The star cluster was discovered by James Dunlop on May 8, 1826 .
