NGC 2315 is a lenticular radio galaxy of the Hubble type S0 / a in the constellation Lynx in the northern sky . It is an estimated 283 million light years from the Milky Way and about 110,000 light years in diameter.
In the same area of the sky are u. a. the galaxies NGC 2320 , NGC 2321 , NGC 2322 .
The type IaP supernova SN 2011ay was observed here.
The object was discovered by John Herschel on February 16, 1831 .
