NGC 2293 is a lenticular galaxy of the Hubble type SB0-a and is located in the constellation Great Dog in the southern sky . It is estimated to be 82 million light years from the Milky Way . Together with NGC 2292 and NGC 2295 , it forms a gravitationally bound galaxy triplet.
The object was discovered by John Herschel on January 20, 1835 .
