NGC 2292 is a lenticular galaxy of the Hubble type SB0 and is located in the constellation Great Dog in the southern sky . It is estimated to be 82 million light-years from the Milky Way and about 105,000 light-years across. Together with NGC 2293 and NGC 2295 , it forms a gravitationally bound galaxy triplet.
The object was discovered by John Herschel on January 20, 1835 .
