Seoul Jungnang FC is a soccer franchise based in Seoul , Jungnang-gu , South Korea . The club plays in the K3 League Basic , the fifth highest division in South Korea.
history
Years as an amateur club (1982-2011)
The club was founded in 1982 under the name Aram FC . Until 2012, the club played in various amateur leagues that were not integrated within the KFA system. In 1992 the club was renamed Mustang FC . In 2011, the club decided to join the K3 League and called themselves Jungnang Chorus Mustang FC and moved to the Jungnang-gu district , Seoul .
K3 League Years (2012-2016)
Kim Sang-hwa was introduced as a trainer in 2012. In their first season, the club reached 7th place in the table. Kim Sang-hwa and his team missed the championship games by far. In 2013 the club introduced a new coach, Ryu Bong-ki. But even under him, the championship games were missed by far. At the end of the season they were in 7th place. In 2014 they introduced a new coach with Kim Byeong-hwan. Under him, the club was able to improve significantly. After the end of the regular season they were on a very good 3rd place and thus qualified for the championship games. In the championship games they received Paju Citizen FC , against which they lost 2-1. In 2014, the club was also in the Korean FA Cup for the first time . In the first round of the cup they received Korea University , which they could beat 2-1. Then they received the Gwangju University at home , which they could also beat 2: 1. In the third main round they met the professional club Busan IPark FC . The game ended 1-1. The penalty shoot-out was lost 3-5, but the club caused a stir with their performance against Busan IPark FC.
In 2015, expectations were very high due to the success of the previous year. After the end of the regular season, they only finished fourth and thus narrowly missed the championship games. Also in the cup you could not build on the previous season. In their first round they received the amateur selection of SK Hynix , which they could beat 6-0 with confidence. In the following round, the Korea University received again. The game was lost 3: 5 after a 0-0 penalty shoot-out, which is why the club was eliminated earlier. At the end of the season, Kim Byeong-hwan's contract was not renewed.
In 2016, Jeong Hyeon-ho was introduced as a new trainer. In the qualifying season for the new K3 League Advance they finished 13th out of a total of 20 teams. The club then played in the play-offs to qualify for the K3 League Advance. The club received Pyeongchang FC at home , against whom they surprisingly lost 1-0 and then relegated to the newly founded K3 League Basic . At the end of 2016, the trainer was accordingly on leave.
Present (2017–)
In 2017, the club presented a new coach again. Seong Han-su was supposed to lead the club into the K3 League Advance. The club also changed its club name to Seoul Jungnang FC in 2017 . The club actually managed to move up 1 point over Siheung Citizen FC . In the cup, the club was able to reach the second main round. After a win against FC Uijeongbu , however, the club narrowly eliminated 0: 1 against Hanyang University at home. In 2018 the season goal of relegation was given, but the club played against relegation from the start. In the end, they were relegated to the K3 League Basic again with just 10 points. In the cup, the club came into the third main round. In their first round of the cup they were able to beat league rivals Icheon Citizen FC thanks to a 4-2 on penalties. In the following round, however, they had to admit defeat Mokpo City FC 1: 3.
